Today’s mini-project: converting my old iPod to flash memory. My hard drive based 80 GB pod has been upgraded to 128 GB of sweet sweet SDXC goodness.
•Longer battery life
•No moving parts to wear out anymore
•Much faster song access (don’t have to wait for disk to spin up
•Significantly lighter. It almost feels weird to hold it.
I have my entire music library on this with about 60 gigs to spare. And I can listen with no Internet, subscriptions, commercials, etc.
Interested in doing it yourself? You can get the adapter at tarkan.info and byo-memory card. You probably also want to get an iPod opening tool. You can use a guitar pick but it’s so much easier with the proper tool.
